Kazakhstan has launched the largest multilocation hackathon Decentrathon 2.0, organized with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This year’s hackathon brings together almost 3,000 people — 1,605 teams from 19 cities of the country, providing a unique opportunity for all young Kazakhstanis who are passionate about information technology to contribute to the development of blockchain, artificial intelligence and game development in Kazakhstan.
Decentrathon 2.0 Marathon is an innovative hackathon format that takes place simultaneously in different regions of Kazakhstan, different cities and universities, combining an online and offline format. Participants from different parts of the country work in teams and individually, competing for a prize pool of $50,000 and the opportunity to cooperate with international companies.
The main feature of the hackathon is distributed work: participants are not limited by anything except their talent and perseverance, and can interact with mentors and experts online. Thanks to this approach, Decentrathon 2.0 creates new opportunities for the involvement of regional talents and stimulates the development of the technological ecosystem throughout the country.
“The best technological ideas are born when engineers and promising talents come together to solve important tasks,” said Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Jaslan Madiyev at the opening ceremony. — Decentrathon is the largest multi—location hackathon in the region, which has proven its importance for the development of the country’s technological potential.
On the first day of the hackathon, the participants received tasks, were able to ask the organizers questions and began to develop their projects. On the second day, they will continue to work on tasks and take part in a virtual job fair, where they will be able to communicate directly with representatives of large IT companies and get a chance to build a career in the field of high technology. And in a few more weeks, which will be needed to evaluate the developed projects, the winners will be determined.
In his message to the people of Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that Kazakhstan should become an IT country and a technological leader in the region. Decentrathon 2.0 proves that distributed knowledge and collaboration without borders are the key to innovation and leadership of Kazakhstan in the IT industry.
