On April 18, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid an official visit to Yessenov University as part of a working visit to Mangystau region.
During the visit, the president was presented with the infrastructure development, academic programs and innovation ecosystem of the University. The head of State got acquainted with the activities of the FabLab digital laboratory, the 01edu school, the Huawei ICT Academy and the Kazakh-German Institute of sustainable engineering (KINI).
The president was presented with the work of Yessenov Technopark, a platform for engineering projects created for students and schoolchildren. Here, young people are developing specific projects, creating startups and mastering modern engineering skills. The autonomous delivery robot created by university students caused a special interest. The Technopark service is consistent with the tasks of 2025-the Working year.
The FabLab digital laboratory is the first Kazakhstan laboratory that is part of the FabLab international network of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Training in the areas of 3D printing, CNC, Electronics, robotics is conducted here, and an international fabacademy diploma is awarded.
The president got acquainted with the work of the 01edu school. This is an educational model based on the peer-to-peer method, which was first introduced in the country. This project, launched under the leadership of the French expert Nikola Sadirak, is aimed at improving the competence of young people in the fields of artificial intelligence, algorithms and data.
As part of the visit, the president took part in the official opening of the Faculty of artificial intelligence. This faculty is aimed at the implementation of the national initiative AI — Sana and plays an important role in the training of IT specialists in the country.
The president got acquainted with the activities of Huawei ICT Academy and the achievements of its graduate — world champion Oralbay Utebay. The Academy provides education in the areas of cloud technologies, 5G, IoT and artificial intelligence. Currently, utebay works as an IT engineer at Huawei Technologies Kazakhstan.
Created in partnership with the Technical University of Berlin, KINI is an international educational institute that provides education in the areas of green economy, digital infrastructure and logistics. In 2026, it was announced that 20 billion tenge will be allocated for the construction of a new building for this institute.
The head of state highly appreciated the University’s infrastructure, startup ecosystem and educational potential and expressed a positive opinion on the University’s activities:
“Such centers provide an opportunity for the technical and creative development of young people. This is an important prerequisite for training competitive, qualified specialists in the era of the digital economy,” Kassym — Jomart Tokayev said.
Yessenov University will continue to train competitive personnel in engineering and IT areas to develop the intellectual potential of the country.
